Veteran tight end James Casey – who has nearly 850 receiving yards and six touchdowns during his six-year NFL career – has a visit scheduled with the Washington Redskins, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Caplan.

Casey was recently released by the Philadelphia Eagles after two seasons with the team. Before that, he spent four seasons with the Houston Texans, where he experienced his best offensive success, recording 590 receiving yards and four touchdowns in his final two seasons there.

He has also played special teams over the years, helping the Eagles' unit to a No. 1 ranking in 2014, as he finished second on the team in special teams tackles and blocked two punts, both of which were returned for touchdown.

Currently the Redskins have four tight ends under contract for the 2015 season – Jordan Reed, Logan Paulsen, Je'Ron Hamm and Chase Dixon – while four-year veteran Niles Paul is set to become a free agent.

Casey also has visits lined up with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cincinnati Bengals, Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos, Cleveland Browns and Tennessee Titans, Caplan reports.
