Safety Tyvon Branch, who was released Tuesday after playing in 75 career games with the Raiders, recorded a career-best 124 tackles in 2009.
Seven-year veteran safety Tyvon Branch is scheduled to visit the Washington Redskins, according to Fox Sports NFL Insider Mike Garafolo.
Branch – a Connecticut product – spent his entire career the Raiders before being released on Tuesday. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2008 NFL Draft with the 100th-overall pick.
Branch appeared in 75 games with Oakland, recording 476 tackles with 20 passes defensed and four interceptions.
From 2009-11, Branch recorded at least 100-plus tackles each season with a career-high 124 tackles in 2009.
During the 2013 season, Branch suffered a season-ending ankle injury and then once again was hampered by injuries in 2014, appearing in just three games.
The Redskins' safety unit is currently in a state of flux, as Ryan Clark recently announced his retirement and Brandon Meriweather is set to become an unrestricted free agent next week.
Akeem Davis, Phillip Thomas, Duke Ihenacho and Da'Mon Smith-Cromartie – the four safeties currently under contract – have a combined 18 career starts.
Garafolo reports that the 28-year-old Branch will also visit the Indianapolis Colts.
