John David Crow's family is on Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III's mind this afternoon after it was announced he has passed away at the age of 79.

Crow, like Griffin III, is in the exclusive Heisman Trophy club, winning the award in 1957 as a member of Texas A&M's football team.

During that season, Crow rushed for 562 yards and six touchdowns on 129 carries while also recording two receptions for 62 yards.

After winning the Heisman Trophy, Crow was selected by the Chicago Cardinals with the second-overall pick in the 1958 NFL Draft.

He would go on to play 11 years in the NFL, amassing nearly 5,000 rushing yards with 38 touchdowns will also appearing in four Pro Bowls.

Griffin III and Crow shared a pretty funny moment during one of the "Nissan Heisman House" commercials that aired a few years ago.
