Jason Taylor departed Redskins Park on Friday afternoon to go to a local hospital for further evaluation of his calf injury.

Officially, Taylor is listed as questionable for this Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions.

After practice on Friday, head coach Jim Zorn said that Taylor may have to undergo another minor medical procedure next week.

That puts his availability for the Nov. 3 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in doubt, Zorn said.

Taylor, who sat out practice two days this week, said he was frustrated that the injury was healing slowly.

"I'm going to the hospital [on Friday] to find out what we're going to do, and the only thing I'm focused on right now is hopefully playing in the game on Sunday and trying to help this team beat the Lions," Taylor said.

Taylor first suffered the calf injury on Sept. 21 in the Arizona Cardinals game. He underwent a medical procedure on Sept. 22 that forced him to miss two games.

He was able to return to action the last two weeks, playing in a limited role.

Said Zorn: "It's hard because he's trying to play football on [the injury], but that may not be allowing it to feal fast enough."

For the season, Taylor has 12 tackles and one sack.

If he can't play this Sunday against the Lions, then Demetric Evans would likely draw the start at defensive end.
