Taylor Sidelined Again

Jason Taylor is out for Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Taylor, the Redskins' 6-6, 244-pound defensive end, remains slowed by a calf injury. He visited a doctor last Thursday and received some medication to help with the healing.

He has not participated in practice since suffering the injury on Sept. 21 against the Arizona Cardinals.

"It's killing me not being out there," Taylor said. "I really feel like I'm not a part of the team. That's kind of how I felt last week and how I feel now about not being in practice or at the games.

"I'm not used to it and I don't like it."

Taylor wants to get back on the field, but he is heeding the advice of team officials.

His status is week to week.

"If it was solely up to me, then I would play, but there's a pecking order here and you have to talk to the coaches and doctors because they know best," Taylor said. "I have to be smart because I don't want to set myself back and miss more time."

Said Jim Zorn: "[The healing] is coming right along. I can't predict when it's all going to come together for him, though."

Demetric Evans is expected to start in place of Taylor for the second week in a row.

Chris Wilson, Rob Jackson and Erasmus James could also be in the mix at defensive end, particularly if Evans shifts over to defensive tackle on passing downs.

Taylor's streak of 133 consecutive starts, including three with the Redskins, ended last Sunday in Dallas.

Taylor, who did not make the trip to Dallas, said he was proud of the way his teammates played in upsetting the Cowboys 26-24 at Texas Stadium.

"The consecutive games streak was something I took pride in, but the bigger disappointment was not being in Dallas and helping the team win," he said. "It was killing me to watch it on television because it was a great game. They played very well and I wanted to be a part of it."
