Thrash Earns NFC Special Teams Honor

The National Football League has named wide receiver-kick return specialist James Thrash as the NFC's Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance against the Detroit Lions in Week 9 at Ford Field.

Thrash made several key plays on special teams against the Lions. He logged a career-long punt return of 43 yards to set up a Redskins field goal in the second quarter.

Thrash also logged a team-high four tackles (three solo) on punt and kickoff return coverage and batted down two punts inside the Lions' 5-yard line. The second one came with less than two minutes in the game and pinned the Lions deep enough that a late comeback would be difficult.

Stepping in for the injured Chad Morton, Thrash also recorded two punt returns for a 23.0-yard average and a kickoff return for 20 yards.
