Throwback Thursday: Art Monk, Darrell Green Find Out They're Going Into The Hall Of Fame

For today's Throwback Thursday moment presented by Subway, Redskins.com looks back at the weekend when Art Monk and Darrell Green found out they were going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

This weekend, Washington Redskins great Joe Jacoby is hoping that his overdue wait for the Pro Football Hall of Fame comes to an end.

Jacoby is one of 15 finalists for enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame with the Class of 2016.

On Feb. 2, 2008, two of the best Redskins of all-time found out they'd be going into Canton, as Art Monk and Darrell Green were both selected.

Monk, like Jacoby right now, had to wait far too long to get in, as he was an eight-time finalist before getting enough votes.

The Syracuse product as the 18th overall-pick in the 1980 NFL Draft.

He was a three-time Pro Bowler and a 1984 first-team All-Pro.

In 14 seasons with the Redskins, Monk hauled in 888 receptions for 12,026 yards and 65 touchdowns.

Green, meanwhile, was a first ballot Hall of Famer, as the Texas A&I product was easily one of the best cornerbacks of all-time.

In 20 seasons with the Redskins, Green appeared in seven Pro Bowls and recorded 54 interceptions.
