What is security like at training camp?

For security purposes, all visitors will go through a metal detector and bag check prior to entering the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center.

Are any items prohibited from camp?

We ask that you arrive early and travel light, as you will go through a metal detector and bag search. For safety reasons, prohibited items include but are not limited to:

  • Alcohol, drugs, illegal substances or any paraphernalia associated with drug use
  • Audio/Video recorders, professional cameras (at the request of promoters use of cell phones may be prohibited during events) and tripods depending upon the promoter request
  • Pop up tents or shelters
  • Fireworks
  • Flags or signs with poles
  • Laser pens or pointers of any type
  • Noisemakers or air horns
  • Oversized bags
  • Pepper spray/Mace
  • Chains, knives and spiked jewelry
  • Weapons, knives, firearms or anything that security / police deem a weapon
  • Drones or any other unmanned aircraft.
  • Bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades, scooters (motorized or push), hover boards, Segway's.
  • Fireworks or other explosives
  • Megaphones, PA Systems, Air Horns
  • Pets (Service Animals Exempt)
  • Flyers / Stickers
  • Any other items deemed unacceptable by event/facility management

If an item is revealed during a search, patrons may dispose of the item or they may return the item to their vehicle. The venue does not safeguard any personal belongings of any type. Security has final say on allowed and prohibited items.

What does the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center provide the surrounding community outside of the three-week training camp?

When the Washington Redskins are not conducting training camp at the site, Bon Secours Virginia Health System operates a full service Sports Medicine office and two primary care offices. SMG books and manages events and activities throughout the year. The 2017-2018 year hosted 200 days of additional events which included concerts, craft beer festivals, weddings, galas, private social functions, corporate meetings and employee days, youth and professional sporting events and national tournaments. The Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center includes a community park with a three-tier outdoor amphitheater, VITA fitness equipment, Play60 obstacle course, and walking trails to enhance the benefits for residents as well as camp attendees. This 2.5 acre space, open everyday from dawn to dusk, is a perfect area to host both private, corporate and community events.

Bon Secours also brings health care services and educational programs to Richmond's underserved areas surrounding the facility, furthering the health system's long-established Healthy Communities initiative. Healthy Communities focuses activity in Richmond's East End and Church Hill neighborhoods and now include communities around Leigh Street.
