Untold Stories From Super Bowl XVII: Mark Moseley

Mark Moseley was the place kicker for the Redskins' Super Bowl XVII championship team. Read some of his recollections from that memorable season...in his own words:

"Going into 1982, we had been picked [to finish] last in our division. But we knew we had some really good ballplayers.

"The 'Hogs' were really starting to come together. Everything that was supposed to happen, happened at the right time. The puzzle came together.

"All that year, I was the one who had to come in and kick last-second field goals to win games. I figured the Super Bowl was going to be no different. I was going to have to come in there and kick a field goal.

"All of a sudden, 'Riggo' busts through the line. He stole all my thunder, he got to be the hero. It was a beautiful run--typical Riggins.

"I missed the parade--I hated that, too. We had to go right from Pasadena to the Pro Bowl, and I didn't get to come back and be in that big parade. I missed it."
