Vincent: NFC Special Teams Player of Week

Troy Vincent earned NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors for his blocked field goal in the Redskins 22-19 victory over the Dallas Cowboys last Sunday.

In addition, Nick Novak was also nominated for his game-winning field goal and linebacker Marcus Washington earned a nomination for NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Cowboys.

It was a thrilling play at the end of an exhilarating game between two NFC East rivals.

With six seconds on the clock and the score tied 19-19, Dallas lined up for a potential game-winning field goal. Vincent, playing in just his second game with the Redskins after signing with the team last month, shot through the line and blocked the kick.

Teammate Sean Taylor recovered the ball and his return helped set up Nick Novak's game-winning 47-yard field goal with no time remaining to give Washington a 22-19 victory. It marked the second time in this rivalry's history that the winning score occurred with no time left in regulation.

Vincent was making his first appearance on special teams with the kick-blocking unit in nearly 10 years and had never blocked a kick in his 15-year career. The veteran safety started his first game with the Redskins and recorded six tackles.

In his 15th season from Wisconsin, this is Vincent's first career Player of the Week Award.
