LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation will host the Washington Redskins High School Coaches Clinic presented by Inova Sports Medicine on Wednesday, March 20 from 9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Fifty local coaches will receive exclusive access to information on player health and safety, character development and how to build a successful program on and off the field.
After opening remarks by Inova concussion expert Brett Gustman, keynote speaker, NFL Alumnus and Co-Founder of the InsideOut Initiative, Joe Ehrmann, will discuss ways to transform the current "win-at-all-costs" sports culture. Ehrmann is an author, coach, All-American football player, former professional football player, Syracuse University alumnus and recipient of myriad awards and honors, such as Syracuse University's All-Century Team, the Baltimore Colts' Man of the Year Award, the NFL's Ed Block Courage Award Recipient, and "The Most Important Coach in America" by Parade Magazine.
Following the keynote address, Senior Vice President of Player Personnel Doug Williams and Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Line Coach Bill Callahan will introduce a panel discussion of Redskins coaches, including Senior Offensive Assistant Matt Cavanaugh, Defensive Coordinator Greg Manusky and Special Teams Coordinator Nate Kaczor. High school coaches will then meet with Redskins coordinators in small group settings to learn tactics behind game planning and film review as well as experience a day in the life of an NFL coach.
New to this year's event, high school coaches will bring one student-athlete to participate in a free high school combine presented by Inova Sports Performance powered by EXOS. This combine, run by EXOS performance staff, will feature a variety of drills similar to those that athletes complete at the annual NFL Scouting Combine. This event will allow the athletes to put their skills to the test to see where they rank amongst other high school athletes in the area and across the country.
