Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation And U.S. Marine Corps Team Up For Toys For Tots Collection

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation and the U.S. Marine Corps will team up this December to benefit the Toys for Tots Foundation and local children.

The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is a not-for-profit organization authorized by the U.S. Marine Corps and the Department of Defense to provide fundraising and other necessary support for the annual Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. Toys for Tots provides joy and a message of hope to less fortunate children through the gift of a new toy or book during the holiday season. These gifts offer children hope, recognition and a positive memory they will cherish for a lifetime. Many of the books, games and sports equipment that are provided as gifts make a significant contribution to the educational, social and recreational development of these children.

Toys for Tots Collection Locations

Date: Friday, Nov. 25 through Monday, Dec. 19

Redskins fans are encouraged to donate new, unwrapped toys at a Redskins team store throughout the holidays or donate online to support the campaign at www.redskins.com/community/donate.html and designate Toys for Tots.

Skins Santa Shoppe(Tuesday, Dec. 13)

Not open to the general public. Do not pre-promote this event. **

Location: FedExField (1600 FedEx Way, Landover, Md.)

Event Time: 10:30 a.m. – 2:15 p.m.

The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation will host 200 elementary school children from District of Columbia Public Schools, Fairfax County Public Schools and Prince George's County Public Schools at the annual Skins Santa Shoppe event.

Students will receive a plated lunch courtesy of Applebee's Grill & Bar® and Potomac Family Dining Group and be served by the Redskins players in attendance. Following lunch, students will be divided into small groups where they will rotate through four fun, holiday activity stations including:

Santa's Toy Shoppe:The Redskins locker room will be transformed into Santa's workshop, filled with presents and holiday cheer. Prior to the event, each student will write letters to Santa Claus and the Redskins so that presents could be personalized for each child. Redskins players and Santa Claus will greet children and help them find their wrapped gift.

The North Pole Cupcake Decorating Workshop by Amphora Bakery: Students will have the opportunity to decorate Christmas Cupcakes to take home with them, donated by Amphora Bakery.

Washington Redskins vs. Carolina Panthers

Location: FedExField (1600 FedEx Way, Landover, Md.)

Fans attending the Washington Redskins vs. Carolina Panthers game on Dec. 19 are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped holiday toy to donate to the Toys for Tots Program. Collection bins will be set up outside of the stadium. Monetary donations will also be accepted.

The 2015 Toys for Tots Campaign proved to be another successful year, distributing 18 million toys to 7 million less-fortunate children. 

Toys for Tots collections and Skins Santa Shoppe are part of the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation's "Season of Sharing" campaign, in which the team is embarking on several initiatives to give back to the community throughout the holiday season.
