Who Starts At QB vs. Ravens?

Jason Campbell's availability for this Saturday's preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens remains uncertain.

Campbell participated in the Redskins' walk-through portion of practice on Tuesday, but he returned to the team's facility for continued treatment a short time later.

Campbell said he still feels some soreness in the knee. He suffered a bruise on his left knee during last Saturday's preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

"If I had to play today, I probably couldn't," Campbell said. "It's hurting my movement right now, but it's only been two-and-a-half days since the injury occurred. I feel like I'm doing well to be moving at the level I am right now."

Campbell's status remains day to day, head coach Joe Gibbs said.

"Jason has no real swelling," Gibbs said. "It's a little sore, but amazingly good. He came out and took the walk-through, and then we let him go inside and get some more rehab."

Gibbs said the team has not made a decision yet as to which quarterback will start the Ravens preseason game. If Campbell can't go, it will be either Todd Collins or Mark Brunell.

"I think we'll wait until later in the week before we make a decision," Gibbs said.

For now, Collins, Brunell and rookie Jordan Palmer are part of a rotation getting snaps at practice.

-- PORTIS GETS WORK IN

Clinton Portis arrived at practice on Tuesday wearing shoulder pads, but he participated in individual drills.

Portis continues to rest and rehab his knee tendonitis.

"We're getting closer," Joe Gibbs said. "He took a little bit of straight-line work out there [on Tuesday]. It's something that we're taking time with. It's not something we like, but it's where we are."

If Portis can't play in Saturday's preseason game, Ladell Betts would probably draw the start for the third consecutive week.

Betts has had limited carries so far this preseason-10 carries for 18 yards-but Gibbs would not say whether he plans to give Betts more work this Saturday.

"That will depend on the feel of the game," Gibbs said. "We just want to be smart there. We've been trying to go pretty hard at this point, but our running backs haven't been taking a lot."

-- McADDLEY HAS HAMSTRING INJURY

The Redskins continue to have injury concerns among their reserve wide receivers: Jason McAddley, a four-year vet previously with the San Francisco 49ers, sat out Tuesday's practice with a hamstring injury.

McAddley made an impression on special teams in last Saturday's preseason game, logging a solo tackle on a kick return. As a wide receiver, he has caught two passes for 22 yards.

The Redskins have already placed wide receivers Mike Espy and Steven Harris on injured reserve this year.

The team has signed veterans Corey Bradford and Todd Pinkston to provide depth.

Meantime, James Thrash was back at practice on Tuesday after sitting out the preseason game against the Steelers due to an abdominal injury.

-- BRUNELL TRADE?

The Atlanta Falcons have some uncertainty at quarterback, as a result of the Michael Vick situation and a season-ending injury to backup D.J. Shockley.

Periodically during training camp, there have been media reports and Internet rumors that the Falcons have inquired about trading for Redskins quarterback Mark Brunell.

For the second time this preseason, Joe Gibbs on Tuesday addressed the speculation.

Asked about the trade rumors, Gibbs replied: "We've had no talks whatsoever. I don't know where that came from. We've had no talks that I'm aware of, as the head coach."
