One of the hardest parts of a ringing in a New Year is keeping up with your New Year's resolutions.

This wasn't this case for 100 lucky Women of Washington (WOW!) Redskins Fan Club members on Saturday, however, as their exercise efforts got a little boost from Nike Trainer Deanna Jefferson.

Jefferson headlined the WOW! New Year Fitness Party at the Redskins Indoor Training Facility, where attendees participated in fitness exercises, as well as a Chalk Talk/Q&A to help keep them on their "New Year, New Me" resolution track.

Jefferson kicked off the afternoon with a fast-paced interactive fitness class featuring Zumba dancing and partner-based circuit training. This 30-minute program had WOW! ladies mixing dance moves with impact exercises like squats and leg raises to break a healthy sweat.

But there is more to staying in shape than working out. The second part of Saturday's event included a Chalk Talk with Jefferson & her team that covered the mental side of fitness.

The main takeaway from Jefferson's presentation was for those in attendance to set "S.M.A.R.T." goals for themselves. According to Jefferson, fitness resolutions and goals are much easier to obtain if they are Specific, Measurable, Accountable, Realistic, and Time-specific.

WOW! ladies were already feeling the positive effects of Jefferson's Chalk Talk immediately following the event.

"I'm just starting to get into working out and toning up for the New Year, so this was a good, fresh start," member Tracie Jones said.

Planning to exercise and eat right at the end of a Holiday season is easy; keeping that resolution going into the New Year is the tough part.

WOW's Fitness Party made those late-December goals a mid-January (and beyond) reality.

Jefferson's message on how to stay strong was simple: "Believe, plan, and make it happen."
