WRCF And Redskins Alumni Association To Host The Third Annual Charity Golf Classic

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation (WRCF) and the Redskins Alumni Association will host the third annual Redskins Charity Golf Tournament on Monday, May 22 at Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, Va. Shotgun start will take place at 9:30 a.m.

Super Bowl MVP Doug Williams (XXII)is expected to attend, in addition to more than 20 Redskins Alumni includingLarry Brown, Chris Cooley, Ricky Ervins, Pat Fischer, Joe Jacoby, and Mark Moseley.Current Redskins are also expected to attend, including Jonathan Allen, Bashaud Breeland, Ryan Kerrigan, Brandon Scherff and more. Schedules permitting, the entire Washington Redskins team, players and coaches, are expected to attend along with Redskins Head Coach Jay Gruden and President Bruce Allen. The tournament is a net scramble format with an NFL Alumni, Current Redskins player, or Redskins coach leading each foursome. The event will feature hole prizes and contests, including an all-expenses-paid trip to the Super Bowl of Golf for the winning team. Past sites for the Super Bowl of Golf have included Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs, Torrey Pines Golf Course, Doral Resort & Country Club, Amelia Island Plantation Course and Maui Prince Resort.

This year's event showcases an online silent auction presented by The GCO Consulting Group. The auction features over 50 unique items including autographed Redskins memorabilia, trips and experiences. The proceeds from the Redskins Charity Golf Classic presented by Coca-Cola will be used to support the Redskins Charitable Foundation's literacy efforts including the Redskins Read Program. In September, the Foundation will kick off the third year of this program in more than 150 schools representing 12 school districts and serving more than 25,000 children. The program is centered around the Redskins Read Playbook, a supplemental reading tool for 4th & 5th graders, and rewards both students and schools with a variety of incentives throughout the school year including giveaways, special events and the opportunity to attend Redskins home games, all to encourage participation and make reading fun!
