Matt Evans enters his seventh NFL season in 2020 after joining Washington during the 2014 offseason. He currently oversees scouting operations in the Southeast region. Evans originally joined Washington in 2014 as a player personnel assistant, during which time he assisted with advance scouting of Washington's opponents, evaluating players in free agency and writing descriptions of draft prospects. He transitioned into area scouting in 2015 and oversaw scouting operations in the northeast region from 2015-18.
In 2013, Evans participated in rookie minicamps with the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles after completing a decorated collegiate playing career at the University of New Hampshire from 2008-12.
Evans was a four-year standout at linebacker at New Hampshire, posting a school-record 460 career tackles and becoming only the fifth player in UNH history to have his jersey number (No. 52) retired. The three-time Walter Camp All-American earned the Buck Buchanan Award, given annually to the most outstanding defensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision, in 2011. He earned induction in the UNH Athletics Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2018.
Evans graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration in December 2012. He is a native of Hanover, Massachusetts.
