The last of his kind, legendary Redskins kicker Mark Moseley turned 68 today.
Drafted in the 14th round of the 1970 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles, Moseley made his name in the NFL as a member of the Redskins from 1974-1986. In 13 seasons donning the burgundy and gold, Moseley kicked in 182 games and scored 1,206 points -- a franchise record to this day.
Along with winning the 1982 NFL Associated Press Most Valuable Player award after making 20-of-21 field goals (95.2-percent), Moseley is widely remembered for his kicking style. In the 1960's, the current "soccer-style" kick was introduced, but Moseley continued on with the more traditional straight-on method until his retirement in 1986, and is the last full-time kicker to practice that technique.
The three-time Pro Bowl selection aided in the Redskins' 27-17 victory over the Miami Dolphins in Super Bowl XVII with two field goals and three extra points. A two-time Pro Football Weekly Golden Toe Award winner, Moseley is a member of the 80 Greatest Redskins and the Washington Redskins Ring of Fame.
Nowadays, the father of nine is the Director of Franchising for the popular burger chain, Five Guys.
