Amanda Writes In from Hong Kong

Hello from Hong Kong!

Our journey in Hong Kong has been amazing so far.  It is hard to believe we are on our fourth day here.  Time is going by fast, and it has been filled with amazing, once in a lifetime experiences!  Today was jam packed with more sightseeing, performing, and shopping!

This morning we were up before the sun to get ready to board our bus for our next sightseeing adventure to Lantau Island.  We boarded our bus and made the hour and a half trip to the Tian Tan Buddha, more commonly known as The Big Buddha.  The 112 foot tall massive structure is the largest bronze seated Budhha in the world. We got our cardio in for the day by climbing the 268 steps to the base of the statue.  The expansive views of the cascading mountains and shimmering South China Sea were breathtaking.  We all took advantage of the great photo opportunities the landscape provided!

Once we made it back to our hotel in Kowloon, we quickly got ready for our first show at Elements, a shopping mall in Kowloon.  Hundreds gathered in the mall for our 20 minute show.  The audience was very gracious and enjoyed our performance, which showcased our versatile style to iconic rock and pop music with a special burlesque and broadway performance.  Before the show, we met a dedicated Redskins Season Ticket holder who is temporarily living in Hong Kong.  He made a special trip to the parade and the mall to meet us and see us perform.  He even got to join us in a special audience participation segment of our show!

We spent our afternoon shopping at The Ladies Market in Mongkok.  This is the second market we have visited during our stay.  We bargain hunted for some great gifts, souvenirs, and fashion items.  After we finished our shopping, we were treated to a spectacular fireworks display on the Kowloon Waterfront, celebrating the Lunar New Year!

Tomorrow is our last full day in Hong Kong.  We have definitely made the most of our trip here, using every possible moment to experience the rich culture of this region!

Kung Hei Fat Choi (Happy New Year) and Hail to the Redskins!
